Touch of Evil( 1958) had one particular scene of the boot where i felt that would be perfect for the storyline we were going for. Barthes who created the enigma code believed that scenes in a film such as the boot scene in ‘Touch Of Evil’ creates mystery, wanting the audience to watch more. However because in our production we wanted to allow the audience to know what is in the boot we got the idea of the enigma code from the 1958 opening sequence. The video below shows the opening sequence of 'Touch Of Evil'. Att 00:27 seconds the car boot scene is presented. In the film Snatch(2000) various freeze frames of the cast were featured throughout the opening sequence which became apparent to me that freeze frames in our production would be suitable suiting the neo-noir/60's thriller theme. Watching the opening sequence for Vertigo(1958) inspired me with the title and the particular effect which was used, the zoom out to in. The way in which i want the title 'One for the road' to be displayed is to look like a car is hitting it from back creating the fast explode effect. The images below shows how the title of 'Vertigo' is zoomed in to out with an exploding effect. For our thriller opening sequence I looked up various films from different years, comparing the older films from the 1950's -1990's to the how the films are now. When it came to editing me and my team member wanted to stick to a neo-noir theme and re create it in our production. We looked at a considerable amount of films of the genre neo noir and 60's thriller's. Sin City, The Touch of evil, Vertigo, The hot Spot and Pulp Fiction were what we looked at. From each film we got some sort of inspiration as to what we want to do for our opening sequence.
