We used a variety of ways in order to help attract and address our audience. By using mise-en-scene and sound, our target audience could engage more with our film. We also used a teenage actress in our film. This helps attract our target audience because they are teenagers too.
Mise-en-scene: For the preparation of our scenes, we used costumes such as fashionable clothing that a teenage girl would wear in order for our target audience (Teenagers) to be able to relate to our character. By relating themselves to our main character, it attracts an audience because they feel like they can share similar characteristics. We also set one of our scenes in a bathroom and used props in order to give the feel that something spooky has happened. This attracts an audience as the scene shows creepiness and therefore the audience gets interested in what is to happen next. Sound: We created a soundtrack for our opening sequence by piecing together different sounds in order to create a thrilling and intense piece of music. Our soundtrack attracts our audience because it is mysterious and they will want to know why it sounds that way. We did not include much dialogue which made our soundtrack stand out. The only dialogue we had was the occasional scream for help. The tone was high pitch so that the audience realised the severity of the situation. https://prezi.com/p/y4pzzl7logy4/
This is the link to our evaluation question 4. Evaluation question 3: What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?5/2/2017 This is our finished opening sequence of 'Manipulation'.
This is the rough cut for our opening sequence. We used this cut to establish which shots were of high quality, suitable to our movie, and which we had to re-film. This also gave us a basis of how our scenes would fit together.
At this point we hadn't edited precisely, and so our shots didn't flow, and background sounds were over powerful. However, this gave us something to work on and base the following scenes on. This was our first attempt at a soundtrack. This helped us become more educated with garageband and improved our skills. We learnt about overlapping sounds and searching for default sounds that are suitable to our opening sequence. We used alot of various sounds to create suspense through making the audience feel uncomfortable with the contrasting noises.
We plan on using some aspects from this soundtrack in our final opening sequence, as we felt they created the atmosphere we intended. |
