I tested 2 different ways of creating a gouged out eye looking types of special effects make-up. One of then was with liquid latex and cotton and the other is just face paint. I tested both on my friend, Katie. Liquid Latex technique![]() I started by putting some liquid latex around her eye sockets ![]() I then put some cotton wool over it and put more latex on top to make sure it stayed Face paint technique![]() the face paint was more simple to do and only took a minute but it is not a good looking ass the other technique Conclusion![]() Here is both of them together (liquid latex on the left eye and just face paint on the right). The left on obviouly looks more realistic and gory compared to the one with jut face paint on the right. Although the liquid latex looks better there are some risks e.g. the actor wearing this make-up cold be disoriented from not being able to see and fall over The face paint technique would be more safe as the actor can still open their eyes and see. Also it takes less times and supplies to do. Even though it as benefits, it still doesn't look good In conclusion, the liquid latex technique is the one we will use. The dangers of it have been considered and we have decided that there will always be at least 2 people around the actor at all times to make sure she is safe while in the make- up and if it comes down to it, it would be okay of she just had one eye with make-up too.
