Scenery: Our chosen genre is dance electronic. We plan to set our music video in a glum school to start with, as we see the characters are fed up with their day to day lives at school, and then outdoors for the rest of the video as the girls enjoy summer. This is similar to dance electronic artist: Avicci's 'i can be the one' music video which has similar scenery from start to finish as the character leaves her job and moves abroad. Props: Balloons and lanterns are all ideas of ours to make our music video interesting and fun. We plan to do this as other music video's from the same genre as ours: dance electronic, do not feature props such as these, and they are featured more in Pop music videos. However as our song is up beat and our story about girls enjoying summer we think this will work well. An example of a pop music video using balloons is Cher Lloyds: With Your Love. From watching this we can see the balloons make the video a lot more colourful and give the narrative a sense of warmth, this is something we aspire to recreate. Costume: We plan to at first wear boring monochrome school uniforms in the beginning setting of the school, and then through the rest of the film wear bohemian style dresses as well as other colourful outfits and flower crowns, which is fitting with our summery theme. We also want to wear glitter on our faces. Like our prop ideas, this kind of costume is seen more in pop style videos so does not necessarily conform to the conventions of our chosen genre, however we think this will still look effective and work with our theme and narrative. This kind of costume and makeup is seen in Little Mix's: 'shout out to my ex'. Overall our chosen mise en scene elements do not completely conform to those usually seen in Dance Electronic songs but we think this will make our video stand out.

When talking about our music video as a group we are starting to piece things together. When talking about cast members we all wanted to be a part of the video and all play a role. This was good because it saved us time as we didn't need to hold any castings for actors because our story line is best friends enjoying their last summer altogether before they go seperate ways for university, this is good because it means we have longer time to film.
Our Actors: Emma Jane, Charley and Georgina. The acting will be easy and really natural as we are all best friends in real life so this should make our music video that little bit better because its real life. Before we start filming it is vital we fill out a risk assessment so we can work out any iks we might face along the way so we can already have a resolution for them.
Our first location is the school stairwell. When the bell goes we will all run out down the stairs, running and cheering because its finally the summer holidays. We will place the camera at the bottom of the stairs creating a short distance shot. Then we will all run out the door in our sixth form uniform, but when we come out the other side we will be in our own clothes with make up on and hair done ready to go out and enjoy our summer! To create this we will do match on action. From the shot of us running out the school reception into the car there will be a short shot of us all in the car with sunglasses on listening to the music on the way home. This field is in Eton Wick and is where we will film us in our summer clothes, throwing holi paint in the air, letting off balloons and looking like were having fun etc. The Eton Wick field is a really nice setting at sunset, we are going to try and find a way to include it in our filming. Our final and main location is Brighton Beach and Brighton Pier, here we want to film us on the pier eating candy floss, going on the rides and having fun. We chose to go and film at night because the bright lights of the pier goes with our music genre. We also want to do sparklers and let of fire lanterns on the beach. If we cannot get to brighton then we will film the lanterns and sparklers at winters hill in Maidenhead as its a viewpoint so the background will look nice when filming and then the ending of us going off seperate ways to uni We plan to film and edit our video so that it will conform to the conventions of our genre which is Dance/Electronic. We have looked at many Dance and Electronic Artists such as Calvin Harris, Tiesto, Major Lazer, Skrillex, Alesso, David Guetta, etc and have analysed their videos and editing techniques so we are able to gain inspiration from there work. We are looking to use quick cuts and short shot duration like the artist Tiesto uses in his song Red Lights to portray excitement and the fast paced idea of how quickly time if flying by. We plan to use a similar narrative script to theirs with a lot of landscape shots and outdoor clips and a group of girls having fun and being free and wild. We want our music video to have a lot of bright vibrant colours to give the impression of fun and happiness. A lot of Dance/Electronic artists that we have studied use bright colours in there videos to portray a happy, entertaining and energetic atmosphere, also using bright colours can represent freedom, creativity and imagination. A lot of Dance Music Videos are filmed in a club or party environment. We wanted to include a party environment in our filming but not in an actual club as we thought that this would be an unrealistic location due to the lack of light. When music videos are filmed in club environments they are within controlled variables; we do not have the ability to do this in an appropriate space. We want one of locations for out music video to be filmed in a field, which is another main convention of the Dance/Electronic genre. We chose to portray this image as we thought it would confrom to the genre and our theme of it being summer and having fun in the fields.
During filming we are planning on getting as many shots in as we can to boost our grade and make our music video better.
Together we drew up a storyboard of our ideas to help us visualise what our music video will look like when put together, this helped us to see if anything needed altering or taking out.
We created a mind map of ideas for our music video. After picking the song On & On by Cartoon we then decided we wanted to do the video about four best friends who are spending one last summer together before they go off to University. We came up with the idea of filming some footage on the beach in Brighton and down the Lanes and also in the Eton Wick Field where we plan to release balloons and play with Holi paint. We wanted to do a twist on this Dance/Electronic Film and make it contrast with an Indie song. We are planning to wear long baggy flowery clothes to the scene with the Holi Paint and converse and jeans to the beach. We are planning to have all four members of the group included in the video and will include more people when we are releasing the balloons.
