To create tension in scenes , thrillers use pace. Fast cutting helps create suspense, but at the same time long slow shots make you unsettled with anticipation. The pace of the shots normally go in unison with the music. Cross cutting is commonly used in thrillers. Cutting between the victim and his threat. There is normally some kind of end to this sequence, when the two individuals or groups meet, in a final climax. These will be extremely helpful to us when filming our opening sequence. ![]() Extreme long shot- also known as an establishing shot. The shot usually frames a wide area which captures a character/person as well as mise en scene. This shot is typically used in all forms of media. Usually at the beginning of new scenes so that audiences are away of the location that is scene will then take place. ![]() Over the shoulder Taken from behind a subject to see someone else. It is sometimes used in dramas to show someone’s facial expression. It is more commonly used for when two people are having a conversation. ![]() Long Shot sometimes referred to as a full shot/wide shot. This particular shot captures the full body of the character and features small aspects of Mise En Scene for example the setting, lightings etc. However you are not shown as much as you would in an extreme long shot as the camera is further away from the subject. ![]() Medium shot A medium shot is usually from the targets head down to his or her torso. This to show the targets body as well as there face. This type of shot is often used in scenes where she is doing someting important ![]() Eye level An eye level angle shows the object of the picture looking directly at you, this shows that he or she has the same amount of power as you. ![]() High angle This angle looks down on someone, it makes the person or object small and insignificant. This is used in films when they want to know someone has more power than someone else . ![]() low Angle This angle looks up on something or someone making it look bigger than it really is. It is the opposite of a high angle. It is commonly used in films to show when they want someone to look big and powerful.
