Rule of thirds is a convention used in film and photography to space out main points and draw the viewers eye to the main focus. A set of nine boxes are placed as thirds and the point the cameraman wants you to focus on will be on one of these lines. The main point of focus has been put on the intersection between one of the horizontal lines and another vertical line. This is often how it is shown.
