We are introduced with the mise-en-scene portraying elements of a normal american lifestyle. With the pan movement showing the middle class houses, from this it connotes a safe friendly environment, that would typically wouldn't expect any crime happening. Another pan shot is demonstrated as the car approaches in front of the house. From the normal duty of delivering newspapers one house is excluded form receiving by the clip board chart highlights the cancelation of the delivery.Immediately this audience feel a sense of suspense action within the house.A quick edit is used to close up pan movement of the props clean and neatly ordered in a row. This can come across quite odd as the razor, scissors, trimmer, and clamps connotes violent going to happen in the film this also shows the audience that the protagonists is a normal person who has a typical day to day life. We are introduced to the protagonists by a mid-shot of him in the mirror this tells us there is a double side to him. By his approach of changing his identity, by taking his sunglasses of, shaving face and removing contact lenses could create a mystery and tension gripping the audience to continue viewing the film. clearly this shows the audience that he's portraying different identities. Due to his haste action of shaving he immediately cuts himself, this connotes a crime murder happing in the scene. The non-diagetic sound of the music is gloomy to the scene which creates the suspense of the audience. The juxtaposition of the shot of the frames of family photos and Christmas decorations shows the house belongs to a family.

From looking at Orphan poster, we can gain an understanding of the different codes and conventions used in a thrillers, and how its illustrated in the mise- en- scene. We wanted to analyse a horror thriller poster and actually focus on the small details in the mise en scene and together as a group figure what they symbolise and how when it comes to creating our thriller poster.
Most teenagers watch films that are based on other teenagers, they like to relate with characters but want to see something different to everyday life happen on screen, this is why supernatural, thrillers and horror themes are popular within 13-24 age groups . Many films and shows that have the same quality to teen expectations have achieved this such as teen wolf and twilight.
teenage audience is are main focus in our film, we want are film to suit the ages between 15-24. Here is a illustration on the target audience we want to aim for. This is a past AS media work were they have called it Inner Evil, we think the name is really good it gives the feeling of mystery towards the film. In the first scene we are introduced to the institution " Golden Production" where they use gold and a dark red colour which makes there logo look professional. We are introduced to the mise-en-scene where they have used shots from the sky as the clouds connotes a dream occurring. This is a good connotation as it allows the audience to engage with the actions making it seem realistic. Overall we like the concept of the film, they have used lots of camera angles such as extreme close ups low angles and eye levels that indicate the amount of subject matter within the frame making making it interesting. This will help us to use different variety of camera angles in our opening sequences.
To create tension in scenes , thrillers use pace. Fast cutting helps create suspense, but at the same time long slow shots make you unsettled with anticipation. The pace of the shots normally go in unison with the music. Cross cutting is commonly used in thrillers. Cutting between the victim and his threat. There is normally some kind of end to this sequence, when the two individuals or groups meet, in a final climax. These will be extremely helpful to us when filming our opening sequence. ![]() Extreme long shot- also known as an establishing shot. The shot usually frames a wide area which captures a character/person as well as mise en scene. This shot is typically used in all forms of media. Usually at the beginning of new scenes so that audiences are away of the location that is scene will then take place. ![]() Over the shoulder Taken from behind a subject to see someone else. It is sometimes used in dramas to show someone’s facial expression. It is more commonly used for when two people are having a conversation. ![]() Long Shot sometimes referred to as a full shot/wide shot. This particular shot captures the full body of the character and features small aspects of Mise En Scene for example the setting, lightings etc. However you are not shown as much as you would in an extreme long shot as the camera is further away from the subject. ![]() Medium shot A medium shot is usually from the targets head down to his or her torso. This to show the targets body as well as there face. This type of shot is often used in scenes where she is doing someting important ![]() Eye level An eye level angle shows the object of the picture looking directly at you, this shows that he or she has the same amount of power as you. ![]() High angle This angle looks down on someone, it makes the person or object small and insignificant. This is used in films when they want to know someone has more power than someone else . ![]() low Angle This angle looks up on something or someone making it look bigger than it really is. It is the opposite of a high angle. It is commonly used in films to show when they want someone to look big and powerful. locations are very important to identify what kind of genre it is and it also makes the scenes more realistic. There are lots of kinds of locations for different genres. In most thriller genres you would find locations of old houses , forests, undergrounds, tunnels , streets, cities and villages. These are typical locations for thriller genres however these locations make triller films more interesting for the audience. For our location we gained inspiration from these photographs, and we will use some of the locations in our final opening sequence production. The photos of the horror locations that we have found are mostly used by other horror films , we believe that by using these locations our audience will get the understanding of our genre as well as our film would be more realistic and scary.
![]() Here is the scene of the opening in Carrie. This is a medium long shot of a distressed women screeching in pain surrounded in blood, this illustrates the pain she's in. She carries a screaming baby in her hand suggesting she was suffering with labour pain. Overall her expression appears to be vulnerable.
The tile appears in a blood red colour font and then the edit effects of the letters turns to blood leaking up wards which disregards gravity connoting supernatural element which hints the film is supernatural.
Sky Fall![]() The actions in this medium long shot represents sexuality. We could suggest this film has sexual content of typical high school students kissing, here we know that this thriller is based in high school therefore its targeted to teenagers. In the first scene of the opening we can see James Bond falling down to the water in slow motion ,then we can see that they have used affects for the ground opening . Props such as guns, knifes, women, blood and target shots suggest skyfall is a action act film pact. The woman figure connotes that the film is sexual and has women in the film. The editing effect of kaleidoscope is constancy used in the clip using images such as women, plants houses etc. This affect makes it appear unusual which foreshadows the film. There's a constant fast motion of abstract colours emerging in this clip, which deeply attracts the viewers attention. This illusion and effects gave us inspiration to use these in our final piece.
